Dimension take rooftop performances to new heights.

Braving new heights of musical performance, Dimension Audio have been integral in the production of at least two new records of achievement.

To mark the announcement that former England Manager Terry Venables’ cover of Elvis Presley’s If I Can Dream is to be released as a single ahead of the World Cup, Terry, accompanied by musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, performed the self-styled, unofficial England World Cup Anthem from the roof of the O2 Arena in London.

Clipped to safety wires to walk the 500ft across the tented roof, with paramedics, experienced mountaineers and abseilers on hand, Terry hit the high notes to promote his version of If I Can Dream from the rooftop, 170ft above the ground. Most artistes would be happy to perform within the O2, but this was the first time the roof itself was scaled and used as a gigantic stage. Playing relay to the roof, with backing singers and Terry on in ear monitoring, Dimension’s equipment played a vital role for the recording of the breathtaking performance managed by production manager Bernie Kearns. In addition to being used by England fans singing it throughout the tournament to support the country’s World Cup footballers, the single’s proceeds will also support charities Help for Heroes and Malaria No More UK.

Following on in Terry’s footsteps, trained mountaineers also helped US rock group, Bon Jovi, climb the dizzy heights to take to the O2 roof. Kicking off their twelve date residency at the O2, the group performed a special opening gig, also managed by Bernie Kearns, on top of the very venue they opened in 2007.

This time Dimension Audio provided their new Halo system to relay to Peninsula Square where the band’s gig was broadcast on a large screen to the audience’s delight. Run on two Yamaha LS9s and utilising E3s and IEMs for the roof, the gig was also broadcast live to Sky News.
